Papi Chulo

During the Merivale Food Festival we ventured off to Manly and ate at Papi Chulo.  the menu special is good during this time.

Free-range maple black pepper pork belly

Nice and yummy- I do like my pork really soft, but it was tender - needed to be more tender for my liking.

The Ribs - Pork with smokey BBQ sauce

They were nice, the sauce was delicious but I have had better.

Overall this place has a great atmosphere , good location and the rest of there menu looks good, so will definitely go back to sample more of their food.

so how do I rate their food

Pork - 4 stars out of 6

Ribs- 4 stars out of 6

Fare Nosh

Another food safari adventure, this time it's with my partner......living in the summer hill area we decided to support our little town instead of venturing off to the CBD. We chose a little place called Fare Nosh.

Plat du jour - special

This changes on a weekly basis, but we sampled some Tom Yum Prawns, Seared Scallop with wasabi aioli, Sugar Cured Salmon Spring Roll,  If your not overly hungry, this is a meal in its self- $19.95 ....bargain.

Pork Belly in Pear Sauce

Another bargain for 19.90, the pork had this thick crunchy piece of  crackling on the piece of pork which was delicious, the meat was cooked good- but could have been a bit softer. the pear sauce worked really well with this dish. Overall it is a nice special at a great price.

So how do I rate the food

Plat du Jour - 4.5 stars out of 6

Pork Belly - 4 stars out of 6

Will I go back - yes of course

Billy Kwong

Back again for another foods safari adventure, yum yum..........

My girlfriend suggested that we try a new place situated in Surry Hills called Billy Kwong.

The venue inside is very cramped, not much room to walk around tables as they have tried to fill as many small tables as possible.  I am not to sure why they have taken this approach, tables are quite small and we just managed to fit our meals on the table with our drinks.

San Churro - Glebe

So perhaps you are out in the city shopping or having a nice meal and you are looking for a small appetiser to sweeten that tooth of yours, then you definitely need to swing past San Churro in Glebe.
I have been to this place many times and I believe they have the best chocolate in Sydney, when compared to Lindt, Max Brenner and Gyllian.  The other places that I just mentioned just don't seem to cut it.

Dark Hot Chocolate

Absolutely delicious, very tasty and sweet....what more can I say....wow!!

Spice I AM - Balmain

Anzac Day, after a hard day of two-up and Golf, it was time to eat some dinner.  So a mate recommended the traditional style Thai - Spice-I-am . We visited the one in Balmain, my friend had been to the one in Surry Hills, so we thought we would give Balmain a go.

As usually i went in disparagingly as spice and me don't agree with each other.  However I ordered my usual accompaniments of Iced water and heaps of napkins, because when I eat Thai, it looks like I have sprinted 1000 meters, not a sight to behold, although my mates think it's the funniest thing on earth ...  ha ha  - not!

Bondi Cosmo

Out and about in the city with my girlfriend and sister, I decided to take them to Bondi  for lunch and try Hungarian food at a small place called Bondi Cosmo.  I have been there once before and it was ok, so I wanted to share my food experience at this place with them.

Chicken Crepe with Paprika Sauce (Hortobagyi)

Its basically a pancake wrapped with chicken inside smothered with paprika sauce over the top.  Being ethnic myself, I love food with Paprika flavour. The crepe was ok, chicken a tiny bit dry but tasty and not expensive, price starting from $7 for a small crepe.  Great Value.

How do I rate the food

Hortobagyi - 3 stars out of 6

Freda's in Chipendale

A friend of mine invited me to his new bar on Friday.  Frida's.  It's a cool funky bar, just two months old situated down an alley next to what seems to be a movie dance studio.  Didn't look much, but turned out to be a little gem.  Definitely a place for a first date or to take your friends for a cocktail and some appetizers.

Baja Cantina Restaurant

Back on the road again for another food safari adventure.  I decided to take George and two of my friends for some Mexican food to a place called Baja Cantina (see map below).

Situated on the main road in Glebe in Sydney this place looks very small on the outside but is surprisingly big on the inside.

Looking at the menu I knew exactly what I wanted, I was craving tacos!!!  The waiter gave us ample time to look at the menu before returning to take our order.

Social Club - Bar and Restaurant

On 27 Nov 2011 myself and two friends decided to have lunch at Bondi Beach.  It was there that my friend suggested a place called Bondi Social (see map below).
What can I say, the name of the place did not sound very appealing and I did not know what to expect from the menu because we needed to take the elevator up to the first floor of the building.
